Algi Yarn Mentorship

One to One Workshops

Personal guidance for alginate biomaterial experimentation

Work directly with Emi BioLab to troubleshoot experiments, refine alginate yarn processes, and develop your biomaterial practice.

A personalized session designed for designers, artists, students and researchers who want guidance while experimenting with alginate-based biomaterials.

The main focus of this mentorship is Algi Yarn and alginate filament processes, developed through Emi BioLab’s research practice.

Depending on your interests, the session can also explore other applications of alginate biomaterials, such as films, casting techniques or experimental material samples.

Each session adapts to your questions, experiments and project goals.

About the facilitator

Emi BioLab (Carola Emanuela Godja) is a designer and biomaterials practitioner exploring algae-based materials through hands-on experimentation. Her work focuses on alginate as a responsive matter shaped by water, salts, time, and gestures of care. Rooted in Venice and its lagoon ecology, her research informs the workshops she leads—guided spaces to test, understand, and design with algae-based biomaterials through a process-led approach.
